Tackling vectors: domino effect to accelerate cross-cutting progress in Neglected Tropical Diseases
Around a third of the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are transmitted by disease vectors. Whilst 58 countries and counting have eliminated one or more NTDs, rapidly expanding vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya or leishmaniasis threaten to hinder this progress. Additionally, tackling vectors unlocks important cross-sector collaborations and improvements for example with the water, sanitation and infrastructure sectors; community engagement; or urbanization. This #ISNTDConnect session, hosted to mark #WorldNTDDay 2026 shares important insights and updates into the domino effect which tackling vectors has for NTDs.
